When my Lord asks...

Asalaamu Alaikum
Insha'Allah you are all well,

One of the students of Imam Ahmad asked him 'O Abu Abdullah, what is your view about these odes which mention Paradise and Hell?' He asked, 'Like what?' He said, 'They say:

When my Lord asks me:
Are you not ashamed to disobey Me?
You hide your sins from My creation,
Yet with sins come you to Me!'

Ahmad said, 'Read it to me again,' so he did. Then Ahmad stood up and went into his house and closed the door behind him. The student said, 'I could hear him from inside the house weeping, as he recited:

When my Lord asks me:

Yet with sins come you to Me.'

You Proud?

Insha'Allah you are all well,

If you take pride in your physical strength, remember that the mule, the donkey, and the bull are stronger than you and better suited to carrying heavy loads. If you feel vain about the lightness of your running style, remember that the dog and the hare surpass you in this field. It is extremely curious that rational beings feel proud of something in which they are surpassed by dumb animals

May Allah (swt) cleanse our hearts of pride.

What can my enemies do to me? I have my paradise and garden in my heart, wherever I journey, it is there with me, never departs from me. My imprisonment is seclusion, my murder is martyrdom, and expulsion from my homeland is tourism. -Ibn Taymiyyah

This quote is amazing. Subhan'Allah!

Slowly as I am begining to read and learn more about my deen, i am coming across some of Ibn Taymiyyah's works. Alhamdulillah! May Allah reward him for his efforts and grant him Jannah!

Junk food... for the mind?

I wonder about the person who contemplates about his nutrition, but he does not consider the food of his intellect. Thus, he avoids of what hurts him in his stomach but lets his mind to be filled with what destroys him.

Picture yourself on resurrection day as records fling into the hands of their doers. When the faithful in truth see what they were promised, and plainly see the kingdom of the heavens. When hell's fire extends its smoke over sinners and paradise lay ornamented and beautified for one who persevered patiently through trials. When even the new-born shudders with fear, clutching its mother lest it be questioned. If such is the condition of one whom never sinned, how about one whose daily habit it is? Guidance

Asalaamu Alaikum

They impress on thee as a favour that they have embraced Islam. Say, "Count not your Islam as a favour upon me: Nay, Allah has conferred a favour upon you that He has guided you to the faith, if ye be true and sincere. [49:17]

Sometimes we forget how grateful we should be to Allah for guiding us. Sometimes we think that we are doing others a favour by practicing Islam. Subhan'Allah, each time we pray, each time we kneel down to the All-Mighty it does not benefit no-one except for our own selves. And those who pray for 'show', they are truly fooling themselves. Do they not know that Allah is the knower of all things? He knows which of his slaves are true believers and which are the hypocrites.

So next times you're feeling sorry for yourself (we all do at times) remember that you are blessed with Allah's guidance, which indeed is the ultimate guidance

I have a collection of great quotes and stuff that are sure to make you think, so I decided to set up another blog.

The blog is based on this poem that was sent to me ages ago, yet it always has some sorta affect on me everytime I read it:

Words spoken May soon pass away,
And be forgotten,
But when spoken in kindness
Are like beautiful flowers A
nd even though they fade and die
From conscious memory,
